The story & symbolism
The tales that have been passed down to us tell us of how the two wolves Sköll and Hati chase Sol and Mani, the personifications of the sun and the moon. The sun and the moon are carried by horses through the sky, and the determined wolves chase after them. It is unclear which chases which though, as old Norse myths consist of a lot of kennings and heiti. Kennings are longer, descriptive ways of describing something, for example "" and heiti are somewhat similar to nicknames, they serve different purposes, for example a bear could be called "the brown man in the forest" for the purpose of not summoning the bear, as people back then believed saying "bear" would make a bear appear. Heiti could also be used just for illustrative purposes, which is the case with the poem that tells us of the chase between Sköll and Hati against Sol and Mani.
In the poem it tells us that "Sköll chases the shining priest" and "Hati chases the bright bride of the sky." While it's often seen online that Sköll chases Sol then I've flipped that, since in Norse mythology, the sun and moon are siblings - oh which the moon is the brother and sun is the sister. And a priest in ancient Norse/Scandinavian societies was often a male, while a bride was female - both the words in Old Norse also have the same genders, where priest is masculine and bride feminine.
Therefore I always depict it as Sköll and Mani and Hati and Sol - but all the scientific stuff aside, it's pretty much cause I'm a bit of a pick-me with these things :D
Anyway this design actually serves as a reminder, to take time off and rest from always chasing your goals - destiny has been weaved for you already and you will reach there, stressing yourself will not make it faster, it will only make you stressed. I believe in you and what you want to achieve and so does fate, but only you can rest yourself - so dont forget to do that!
