The story & symbolism
A wanderer named Svipdag standing in front of the healing mountain Lyfjaberg. It is said that on top of this mountain lies a castle that is guarded by vafrlogi, a magical fire keeping out those who are not welcome to sacred places. The castle balances itself on top of a spear head, thats why I've depicted Lyfjaberg here in a spearlike shape too. In the story of Fjölsvinnsmál the magical mountain and castle are named, and in the castle is a goddess by the name of Menglöd. A hero who carries the name Svipdag is the only one allowed to enter her castle, which is guarded by Fjölsvinn, who also gives her name to the song itself. When Svipdag finally makes it to Menglöd she then throws herself into his arms and recalls how long she has waited for him
The name Svipdag means something like "the sudden arrival of day" and thats why I've depicted the suncross behind the mountain, the picture being a retelling of the story and the furthest point of the picture symbolizing the end of the story, a sudden day arriving
