The story & symbolism
Based upon an artefact from the Iron Age found in Kristianstad, Sweden. The artefact itself was also a miniature of an axe-head. It was common practice to put miniatures in Iron Age cremation urns, since the real-sized weapons would not fit their masters anymore. This tradition of using miniature weapons in graves has been noticed as far back as the Stone Age. This ritualistic act could have served as society making sure their loved ones were safe even into the uncertain realm of the afterlife.

KRISTIANSTAD PENDANT
This is the original as mentioned above, but slightly larger, about 5-6 cm long so it was not likely used as a pendant. Picture by Kusmin, Sara, Historiska museet/SHM
