The story & symbolism
This shaft-hole axe pendant is inspired by the Bronze Age artefact found in Västerås, Sweden. These types of Bronze Age axes are tied heavily to ceremonial rituals, suggested by some archaeologists to have been used during the making of ships. They have also been found in hoards as sacrifices in bodies of water. The axes are commonly found depicted on Bronze Age rock art whereas one of the more famous examples is the “axe god” found in Kinnekulle, Sweden. This pendant represents strength, courage and facing challenges head on. You will always have a reminder in this pendant to not be scared of the unknown and to choose your battles as they come

KINEKULLE PETROLGYPH
Here we can see the petroglyph mentioned above. These are rock carvings from northern europe, depicting various things but mostly humans figures, animals and ships. This one here depicts a man with a great axe similar to the bronzeage axe found in Västerås, so there were probably a couple with this design. Or perhaps there is a connection between the petroglyph and the actual axe, it could have been a great king (with a great hand as we see as well).

VÄSTERÅS AXE
And here you see the actual axe that was found. The picture is by Arvidsson, Jennie, Historiska museet/SHM. You can see use on the edge of it and just how great this axe looks like, it stands over 30cm long and mustve been a joy to use.
