The story & symbolism
The time that raids were mostly conducted was in autumn, due to several reasons. One is that a group raiding would not carry enough food for the whole trip, so raiding involved also stealing crops and food that had been set aside for winter by the target. Also the conditions of the sea are better during this time of the year usually. And also your own crops had been planted and picked already. So this left autumn a good time before winter to conduct these raids - plus you had more stories to tell around the cold time of the year, when sitting next to your friends and family around the fire.
On the back of this design I've depicted the Vegvisir symbol, the name means a way shower - so a symbol that leads you back to home. This serves two purposes here, while the symbol itself is more modern than it is ancient - the theme is very ancient. So this symbol leads you home from the raid and also helps you navigate the sea and vast wilderness between home and riches.
