The story & symbolism
The Bayeux tapestry is a long embroidered cloth, around 70 meters long, that depicts historic events of the Norman conquest of England. The specific part of the tapestry I've chosen to depict here is from the battle fo Hastings - which took place less than three weeks after the battle at Stamford bridge, where the legendary king Harald Hardrada fell and the story of a lone berserker on a bridge, who defended himself and his army against dozens of English warriors originates from. The tapestry itself is 50cm high, my embroidery is not that tall - so I had to simplify some details.

Battle of Hastings
The battle of Hastings took place between the English king Harold Godwinson and Duke of Normandy William leading the Norman armies. It took place on the 14th of October 1066. The tapestry part here depicts Noman cavalry forces flanking and encircling Anglo-Saxon forces who are seen weith kiteshields and spears, forming a shieldwall.
