The story & symbolism
The personification of the treacherous sea, everything that falls in the sea are gifts to her. Rans name translates to robbery, likely coming from that the sea pulls everything underneath it remorselessly. Turn to Ran when you need guidance with exploring hidden aspects of yourself or others, facing the unknown and when you need help navigating a stormy period in life. But keep in mind, she is a very neutral figure - you can never know truly where the wind will blow. She can cause waves that propell you forward or waves that tear you down, so you need to learn to work with him. To your home she brings a sense of protection from others, a tranquil state that you or your family controls, imagine the aura of your home as a sea and you control the weather. Between the habitants of this sea she encourages emotional exploration, creativity, collectiveness, understanding of the unknown and a symbiosis, as all moves with the waves in a sea.
THE FACE
Her face features no emotions or a mouth, because a drowning death is a silent one. Her hair represents a stormy sea that evolves into a typhoon. She can also be seen wearing a pearl necklace, as a reference to her appreciating pretty things thats the sea has to offer or what fall to the seabed.
Typhoon hair
Her typhoon hair wraps around the necklace like all the female figures I've done that are worn by the braid.
NINE DAUGHTERS
The typhoon hair then evolves into 9 woman faces that represent the nine daughters she has with Aegir. These represent waves on the sea.
HOLDING A NET
She can be seen holding a net. This net also reaches her back and this symbolizes the grasp of her and how she traps ships and men in that net. The small S like figures on the sides of her dress are souls of men that she has trapped.
