The story & symbolism
The protector goddess, she is said to protect those that Frigg chooses to be protected. Inspired by the shieldmaiden pieces found around Scandinavia she is seen with long hair thats braided and wearing a shield and a sword.
The protector
I've depicted her with a shield and a short-sword that are authentic to the viking age. Her garment reaching to the front features a folkish pattern to symbolize defense with a Odal rune in the middle as a reference to protection of the home.
Worn by the braid
She can be worn by the braid or used as an altar piece. The intricate braiding of the hair and length of the hair also symbolize a more unnatural and powerful being.
Inspired by an archaeological find
The main inspiration for this piece came from an actual arcaheological find from Denmark thats believed to depict a shieldmaider or a valkyrie. This further has inspired me to create all my female deities with a hole in the braid to be used as a rope hanging point.
