The bear fylgja is a force of raw, primal spirit, courage, endurance and the strength and will to stand alone in the face of fear. Bears were renowned in Old Norse societies, with supernatural beings like Berserkers being exiled from communites because of their primal and raw nature. But who did the people turn to once push came to shove? Ofcourse those blessed with the sign of the bear. Those bearing this sign are the ones you want in any trouble you might face, and if you're one of those born under the bears guarding nature, you can expect to face lifes questions with a brute, primal rage. Breaking through any barriers set in your way.
The word fylgja comes from Old Norse and means two things - a companion and a placenta. Fylgja is in ancient times an animal, assigned to a person on their birth. They guide and follow the person in their life and as they lead them into this world, they also lead them out of this realm - they are loyal companions for you.
