The story & symbolism
Surtr isn't considered a god but still a major figure in Norse Mythology. He will partake in Ragnarök where he slays the god Freyr after which the heat and fire he brings will devour the world. His name also means something like 'black' or the color of charcoal, below you can find a video how I created this amulet as well as pictures and explanations for the small details:
A skull headderss
There is a cave on Iceland called Surtr's cave in which arcehologists have found remains of oxen and sheep. There is also mentions from the Landnámabók of travels to this cave to sing a praise for a giant that lives in that cave.
Bright sword
He is told to have a bright sword, which I've here depicted as a semi twohanded sword, even though twohanded swords werent a thing for the vikings but a rather later invention I'd wanted to imagine him with a mythical sword of significance, so that's why it's a twohanded one. The rays I've depicted around him as the shine and heat emitting from the sword.
Sheepskin volcano
If Surtr is standing normally he is wearing a sheepskin but if you turn him around it is supposed to depict a volcano thats erupting and the flames are depicted on his lower part of the attire. This is symbolism to his importance in Ragnarök where the flames he brings devour the world as well as the before mentioned cave for him on Iceland and the volcanic activity on Iceland. The tip of the mountain also features a small face of Surtr in the clouds.
