The story & symbolism
This is inspired by the many amulets we have found of female bodies, found throughout many different cultures and time periods. They are often called "venus figurines" but this is just a modern name for them, they are likely an earth goddess or perhaps the concept of a goddess wasnt even a thing yet so it's an earth spirit. Or perhaps these were created by women, as the parts of the bodies that are exaggerated are how women feel when they are pregnant. These amazing finds of art can be dated as far back as 40 000 years ago with some finds, that we cannot be sure if they are a depiction of a person like the Venus of Berekhat Ram, but if it is - then that is from around 250 000 to 280 000 years ago. A beautiful reminder that as long as we have been 'human' we have also appreciated art. This one is inspired by Finnic mythology of the bear, thus she has a bear head and her eyes are spiraling as symbolism for a shaman in a trance state. Her hair is inspired by mixing the Venus of Willendorf and depictions of bears on the Torslunda plates.
The amulet is an ode to human history and our love for art, crafting and beauty. It is also to honor women as they nurture and give life and often go unnoticed in history, but looking back far we can see a clear veneration of femininity
