The story & symbolism
This amulet is inspired by an actual find of ancient Chud or Permian people, who were a Finnic tribe. This is depicting the goddess, earth mother or a nature spirit of the land. The resoncstruction of her original meaning is done only on oral folklore that has stood the test of time as these people didnt leave written evidence and a lot of these myths and stories were shared during cold winter months or during labour, thus travling from generation to generation. My interpretation is as follows, she has four breasts to feed the sons of Kalev sent to rule great tribes and to help people in Kaelvala (the land of Kalev). Kalev is an ancient ruler of the Finnic people and said to have many sons, one of who was the leader of the Estonians and has a national epic written in his honor. Kalevala is the national epic of Finland and Karelia and talks about a land where Kalev and his people wouldve lived. The goddess has been interpreted to have four breasts to also nurture all the directions a person or light could go, meaning it nurtures all the nature around us. The three heads have been interpreted as being able to commune with the three realms, that of the living, of the dead and of the spiritual. It is also seen in these cultures that if a person ascends or goes into a shamanic trance, they take on the form of an animal, often birds to traverse different plains of existence and the birds on her head could symbolize that.
