♙ Einherjar as Pawns
In norse mythology people who die in battle can end up in various places and one of them is Valhalla. Odin gathers these worthy warriors there and they are called the Einherjar. There they do battle every day until the day that Ragnarok arrives, on that day they storm out the many doors of Valhalla to go against the forces of the Jotünn.
♖ Ulfhednar as Rooks
Ulfhednar are a type of elite warriors similar to the Berserkers. They wear wolf skins and are often attributed to follow the god Odin, they can be seen on many historical art pieces like the Torslunda plates for example. Ulfhednar are often depicted with spears as the god Odin himself has a relation to his spear Gungnir.
♘ Sleipnir as Knight
Odins trusted horse Sleipnir with his 8 feet is the knight piece of this set. If it was up to me I'd make him able to move like the queen piece but you can decide if you want fun rules or no.
♗ Valkyries as Bishops
The Valkyries are the choosers of the slain, as mentioned above those fallen in battle will have many chances where they end up in their afterlife. One of those places is Valhalla where the Valkyries carry them to and serve them food and ale there, they are Odin and Freyas trusted allies and a lot of mythology and folklore surround them. As Valkyries also pick fallen warriors for Freya, the two sets share bishops but with small variations. Odin's set of Valkyries features a slitted mask and wield a spear.
♕ Frigg as the Queen
Odins wife Frigg is the queen piece, having great power and respect amongst all living things she looks after everything when Odin is on his daily dose of finding people to torment or a noble quest of acquiring knowledge with his norse lamborghini Sleipnir.
♔ Odin as the King
The king piece is the allfather himself, the ruler of the gods. It's an elongated version of the Odin Amulet I have without the neck hole as well.

Items are measured by being laid flat on the ground, not by circumference. If you have any items that fit you well, lay them on the ground and measure them to get the best fit
