The story & symbolism
Goes also by the names Rauni, Raunj, Rannj and other variations is the wife of Uku from Estonian mythology who is very likely the same as Finnish Ukko as they share a lot of similarities both being something like a mixture of Odin and Thor as well as a sky father being. But on Raun we have very little information, what we know is she also is associated with the weather and mentioned only in a few older sources (one of which i cant read lol)
From a 1554 Finnish poem it is said that if Rauni was sad or angry that Uku/Ukko would make it rain from the north as well as folklore and chants from Estonia saying she was to be turned to when people needed aid with the rains. That’s why there can be seen two streams running down her face
She is also associated with Rowans because of her name and my logic is due to Rowans being used in folk magic to protect houses from fires caused by lightning or other natural sources then the rain part of her is tied to this folk magic. I’ve depicted this as the twelve braid ends being bundles of rowanberries
She is also associated with bringing good harvest because of her rain aspect and thats why I’ve made her hair as a stormy rain and her hair partly tied with a headband to symbolize a working
