The story & symbolism
The protector goddess, she is said to protect those that Frigg chooses to be protected. Inspired by the shieldmaiden pieces found around Scandinavia she is seen with long hair thats braided and wearing a shield and a sword. Turn to her when you need comfort, refuge, protection, good health and solace during times of anxiety and grief. Having her as a companion in your home protects the whole home and those living in it. She makes the inhabitants and those around them calm and soothes any pain that has come and keeps away any that might come. She also brings forth a peace of mind and stabilizes everything around her.
THE PROTECTOR
I've depicted her with a shield and a short-sword that are authentic to the viking age. Her garment reaching to the front features a folkish pattern to symbolize defense with a Odal rune in the middle as a reference to protection of the home.
INSPIRED BY AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIND
The main inspiration for this piece came from an actual arcaheological find from Denmark thats believed to depict a shieldmaider or a valkyrie. This further has inspired me to create all my female deities with a hole in the braid to be used as a rope hanging point.
